We will post photos here of the various projects that we take on and on and on etc
Sold the blue XA coupe, started on another XA that has been in a rotary frame for nearly two years!! Thought it might be time to free it. The cob has had a restart after being abandoned for so long as well. There never seems to be enough time to do whats required!! So we have sold off nearly all the toys and are trying to concentrate on just two or maybe three projects at once. The blowers up for sale and the 4 bolt mains motor has a pro comp roller cam with a .650 lift 280 duration, ali heads flowed at 346 CFM, and a parker tarantula manifold. phase one is naturally aspirated thru a holly 800, phase two looks to be a little nos shot. After some initial problems with the comp ratio, we appear to have settled with 10.7 : 1. The rebuild uncovered a few problems with the last 'professional' rebuild, The ever present harmonic vibration appears to have been caused by the engine builder using first and last mains with 20thou under bearings, as it was supposed to be, but the middle three caps contained standard bearings!!! What the fuck!! Well I guess that explains the weird harmonic that motor has had since its rebuild, it would have been the center of the crank flexing around all over the place.
Aint never going there again.
Lots of photos to come. Promise
Lots of differrent projects on the go at the moment
Web site in the process of being updated(finally!!!!)
Well shute, we finally got back into the web site.
Bin a while hasn't it?
So, the cob got finished and it was so exciting to have a v8 at the other end of the loud pedal for once that I have to admit I went a little crazy. Until the point where I took the lobe of the cam, and chewed up two perfectly good lifters, the car was running so well. I hadn't driven a V8 for nearly two years, and I went apeshit. Thats my only excuse. Now that we can access the web page, I can promise to put in some photos tomorrow of the dead cam and lifters. The only good thing in this whole saga was that I went and spent $140 on a magnetic ring for the oil filter, the idea of these are to trap any metal in the filter and stop it going anywhere else in the motor. THEY FUKIN WORK thank fuk for that, the rest of the motor was okay, and after a strip down, cam and lifters replaced, key turned and it was all good.
You know after you have had problems, you are sort of wary of every noise and don't really trust the girl like you should? well I'm pleased to say that I'm nearly through that stage now, we've done about 800 k's already and there's just some minor stuff left to trace (minor electrical shorts behind the dash, ?)
Put a couple of shots of the nearly finished cob up, and now we are working on the XA coupe, nicknamed snakey, it is the one thats getting the fully tricked out motor,( the cobs motor is just a warm one now, will put it on the dyno after Xmas)
Snakey has red rego plates - SNAK3Y- and if one more person says whats snack 3 y mean? I'm going to lose it.
The cob is booked in for its blue stripes in mid Jan, and snakey is getting red cobra stripes at the same time, both cars are plain white at the moment.
see yah on the road.
